Soccer is a high intensity intermittent sport comprising of short powerful efforts, normally in the form of sprinting, changing direction, jumping, tackling and kicking interspersed with low intensity movement patterns such as jogging, walking and standing still. The modern game demands strength, power, speed, agility and endurance. It is with these demands in mind that Snohomish United has developed a program that will better enhance the player's physical attributes as part of Snohomish United's 'holistic' player development philosophy.
The Snohomish United Speed and Agility Camp follows an integrated approach where all aspects of speed development (speed endurance, agility, speed, power) are trained all of time, however the volumes and intensity of each component will vary depending on the main focus of the specific age group. At the younger age groups, our program increases athletic development by training specific neuromuscular pathways specific to soccer. This includes the moderate strengthening, coordination training, and injury prevention. For the older age groups, the program's focus is on increasing strength, power, and anaerobic endurance. The training sessions these groups we will focus on proper muscle activation sequencing, muscle recruitment, and reaction.
