Recreational Soccer Fact Sheet

Registration for Recreational soccer typically runs May 1 – June 30 through the club’s online registration at http://www.snohomishyouthsoccer.org under the “SYSC Club Registration” link.

Medical Release forms will be included in your registration receipt (via email) and should be completed and returned to your coach at the first practice/meeting.

New players joining SYSC are required to provide a copy of a Birth Certificate to the club offices.

Equipment:  All players should have soccer cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards, and an appropriate size soccer ball for practices and games (See Recreational Overview for ball size).

Teams and coaches are assigned at the conclusion of the registration period (July).  Where possible, teams are formed based on school and home address location.

Returning players generally remain with their current team/coach unless otherwise requested.

Specific requests for teams, coaches, or teammates may be given consideration, but cannot be guaranteed.

Practices generally begin in late August.  League games begin the weekend after Labor Day. Typically, U-5 Micro soccer games take place on Friday evenings while all other ages play on Saturday or Sunday.

Practice days are established in August based on field availability and coach’s requests.

Requests for players to “play up” (above their appropriate age) are taken into consideration with input from parents, coaches, and with final approval from SYSC staff based on each child’s maturity, physical and technical capability, previous demonstrated ability, and age-to-grade level.

Players are not allowed to play down without an exception granted by Washington State Youth Soccer.
